Nostalgia Ityaadi....Finally A Dream Coming True...

I have been struggling to write something in the last few months. My dry run has almost made me barren, sick and predominantly complaining. Almost when I thought I was quitting writing, Sandeep slapped me with a suggestion, " There is no point cribbing about something not happening; unless someone works on to do away with the irksome experience". I hated him, but liked his idea. As I finally threw of all my other preoccupations on Sunday, I listened to Nostalgia...Ityaadi, my friend Manash Mahanta's new album.
The weather was further chilled with a careless coming of the drizzle, that hopped mind to eclectic heights; Nostalgia without a Nature's bliss had been incomplete, at least for me.This has to be a distant stroke of irony, that the Distributors(outside Assam) of the album, would take a while to feel-pill the songs, which are definitely not for all and sundry.Are they for me, or the owner's of 100 Dreamz Street?

I have been avoiding this question, because I believed in the power of a product or service or someone, do all the talking on its/their behalf. If you ask Manash, he would say, " I am not looking at what my songs entail for the audience in particular; to the extent that I would refrain from discovering a genre for my songs, nor would I proclaim that this album is for every music lover; but yes, if someone wants to believe that Music cuts across borders, not limiting itself to sardonic melody or heart-burning renditions, then of course Nostalgia is for you".

Am I such a believer? I doubt. For me, music is anything that solace my tiring sensations. I chill-humm the restless cry of Adi( my nephew) and the indefatigable efforts of his grandmother to keep him at peace and would love to club that as music. I love to hear, when people point out, I have no Music sense. That is a fact and there is no denying to it. And pretty much for my inclination for nonsense in life, I have decided 100 Dreamz Street would happily endorse Nostalgia....Ityaadi. Our belief had been founded on the conviction of a dreamer, who was trying to make sense out of nonsense.

Very few people would know, the idea called 100 Dreamz Street was coincidentally a sibling of Nostalgia....Ityaadi.I am referring to almost August 2008, when I and Manash failed to celebrate the holiday of India's Independence Day with the silent pouring of the red on ice.To make for the coveted loss, I invited him for an aroma of the Lavazza, at South Extention Part 1.We met after an epoch; if honesty comes into play, then we would safely conclude, we had never met before as such. We preserved a plethora of mutual admiration, majorly unexpressed; sometimes it is a necessity to let the reservoir go the torrent way. " Bondhu, thanks for taking the time out", with which Manash greeted me. I liked the way I was being addressed, very much however reluctant to accept such a amazing demeanor, knowingly fully that I heard about Manash a lot,but never heard that he would have ever known any of my secrets. The very few occasions when I had met him before, I faintly remember he never had long hair or beards. But when I saw him with the look of...I love to call that as the NCD( National Creative Director) look. And it did never shake me even for a minute to unearth his associations with companies like Leo Burnett, ESPN etc. " What do you do", Manash asked me when he was starting to stir the conversation with the flow of a Mocha; I preferred to tell him, what I was trying to do. I was on the lookout for my soul-searching; a well paid job with distant hopes of fueling success was not tickling my aspirations, very much for the fact that monotony reigned in with supreme authority. I had been wasting many weekends over the errand boredom, my such reverberations were exercises in futility. All those unproductive months and by-years, led me home to only one belief, " Kuch Karna Hain". And I had no intention of sending this jingling phrase to Ekta Kapoor's or Karan Johar's,but to keep very much to myself, " the fact that you have come here to meet me, has inspired me to kill my numb self.", I told Manash that I want to launch my own venture, into anything, with a special focus on the Media and Advertising. And of course, such a venture would love to foray into commercializing, dreams. 100 Dreamz Street, was in my mind; it was a heart without a soul back then.

Manash then told me, he has recently quit his job in order that he records his maiden album. I was not thinking that he was about to just do a Harakiri; but I was astonished to know, a bathroom singer or a far from being a singer would try to wear shoes of a singer without socks. Funny was what I thought of his idea, I could not but admire the lyrics of the title song; I sort of questioned myself, " Who says that only a singer maketh a song?"; intelligence lyrics sung in a ordinary fashion can make music too.

Our respective cuppas were empty with our Dreams pouring onto each others knowledge. Far from being friends could never be friends, but they could very well be partners in crime; particularly, if committed to enthrall the world with the fact that its not the bed that decides a dream, but the curvy-bendy road that leads to its destiny.We took a leave from each other, without however promising that we would ever meet.

It was very much on the designed lines, that we hardly met after that meeting in South Ex. And pretty much on the unwanted ways that, 100 Dreamz Street was still wandering for want of any concrete headway.For, the only developments that happened, I found Partners to take the venture forward. But no one was still sure, what to do.But somehow Manash again called and said lets catch up. I somehow liked the idea. When nothingness prevails, some crime partners might just break the Jinx.

South Extension Part 1, Cappuccino was still waiting. Manash told he was ready with the songs. I almost forgot that he was with his crazy idea for so long. He played the songs, as expected those were far from being songs, which a typical music lover would embrace with open arms. And i sort of knew, people would question his guts. I told him, " Even Galileo was burnt alive, but his idea was epoch-making.So its good if people try to resist your idea".The best part was Manash himself was away from the word success,but obsessed with a biased for doing what he felt would give a new way of doing things. He found sponsors; he was just days behind to see his baby doing the birthday bash.

He then asked about me, how my 100 Dreamz Street doing. I said, " I won't say it is still dreaming,but yes it is yet to get out of the bed". While saying that, my sleeping senses were actually rising, realising that the Dreams I was planning to support are here. Manash Mahanta, is the first dreamer I met and Nostalgia... ...Ityaadi was dream coming true, so why not fly with this dream, serving a much needed idea for 100 Dreamz Street. Distributor of Nostalgia...Ityaadi, was a not a bad idea at all.

Today, when I am writing my blog, I am happy; my dry run ends here, with something which I love to talk about. If you still have doubts about what 100 Dreamz Street wants to do, then yes it is definitely not that we are promoting an album; but a Dreamer and his vision with a difference.

Till the time I find my next Dream, I would urge everyone, to get swept away in the memoirs of Nostalgia.......and many more Ityaadis............:-)

Fedex tries to rule,,,,viewers, shift ur views...

with Rafa, the defending wimbledon champ opting out, Fedex breathes a shy of relief. Hopes to send Sampras behind him, in terms of lifting maximum number of Grand Slams.The spectators have seen good performances already, with no major set backs so far..However the road to glory for Fedex will not be easy.Andy Murray makes a statement and vows to respond to the vivacious call of the Britons; that after Fred Perry in 1936, he will get the cup in style..After marriage, Roddick showing amazing temparament and announces, " Look I am back, Pete dont worry; I will not let it go from u so easily"..

Showing his might in Roland Garros in April, Robin Soderling will again pose a giant threat to Fedex when the earlier will try to make history when he meets the later in the race for the last eight.But Fedex is the king of the green and he wont let go the sheen..hes definitely the favourite and will surely attempt to the history's call...

Viewers are having so many options now..India-WI one day series...Confederation Cup...and at times theres a clash of the big matches...so its upto them to prioritise the events..do they still want to continue with Indian cricket being humiliated or want to witness new emerging heroes in other sporting arena? Sania still struggling while siana emerging...viewers need to switch to other events so that these stars get the inspiration to fulfill their aspirations...

Pose for a Question!!!!

some people find it in their lives..some people find it the in dictionary..some people chase it and find it hard to realise..Hapiness is what I am talking about..it is perhaps the fourth basic requirement; after food, shelter and clothing..or may be the possession of the earlier three in one's life automatically shapes happiness up..huh!! it would have been really nice had it been an equation..(People with a Chemistry Background might help, please).

Happiness has always been a priority for all and sundry..And everyone seems to have defined their own way of happiness..this is only but natural when you realise the hard way that there is no clearly defined path to it.Consider this.. Mars Born's with a silver spoon in his mouth..He had his schooling at the Doon School and he never had the irony to become number 2..In the meantime, he become the Boys champion in Wimbledon Lawn Tennis for three consecutive years..He graduates from St Stephens College in Economics by breaking all records..he falls in love with Venus at the second sight(first was actually a glance and he was totally drunk!!) and proposes to her..Venus says that she loves the blue sky, that why she recognises a sky of potential in him and she loves him too..Venus was incidentally following the same path as Mars, born with a silver spoon in her mouth,schooling at doon, becoming the girls champion in Wimbledon, broke all records in chemistry from Stephens..together they joins MBA..Mars does it from Harvard and Venus does it from Boston..Mars and Venus becomes a wizard of Harvard and Boston by showing unprecedented success in Finance..When the time of placements came, Mars was hired by Lehman Brothers and Venus Bank of America..As it turned out, they have turned out to be the highest paid executives in the finsel town..when Lehman Collapsed, Mars was never sacked, rather he got promoted and at Bank Of America Venus was appointed as the relegated as the consultant to advise on the Bankruptcy Filing..Now ask Mars and Venus are they happy?

Mars, " Hey wait the last movie I watched together with Venus was perhaps Jurassic Park..oh man, I have got almost everything in life one can have, but i don't have time to enjoy those..Happiness?well, miles away..perhaps in the woods!!!"

Venus, " Numbers and Numbers..and I am blind..and perhaps deaf..I cant hear Mars saying, 'I love u'..I can't even remember when we last met for a quiet dinner..when we met last Mars said, "honey, I have a meeting!!"

Ask my friend Jeeta when shes happy..she would say " When so many cats in white surround me and plays like Toms with me"..Kongkona is happy when she would do her Riyaaz for at least 30 minutes because she finds peace of mind in that..Sandeep is happy when he takes a break from processing and goes for a diet coke and on the way feeds muffin to the stray dog..Chintu likes to break off working monotony by perhaps working MORE!! Sachin Tendulkar is happiest when he listens to Eric Clapton!!

So everyone has their happiness theory..But no is ever sure if that theory works ever after and therefore believe in devising new ways to find happiness..If I get bored by the way Chambers defines happiness, I turn on to wickipedia!!But keep changing and you will be happy! that seems to be the mantra..but what does one do when even a change becomes the order of the day and becomes monotonous..like, if u wear fourteen different pairs of shoes in seven days and u still get bored, will wearing twenty one different pairs of shoes will help? try switching to one pair of shoes for the entire week..with of course 0% guarantee that monotony will go away!!

Not easy though!! I would say happiness is tough..say it 349 times to as many people in 227 ways or say to yourself that "shut up" and be happy and hit the bed..or simply make a call to mummy and say, " I am coming home, make the Fish Curry Ready"..

I am sure, there will be some people who would be happy answering to my question, " Is happiness is a Science or Rocket Science or Obama Science or simply it is a nine letter word?"

Drums of Heaven!!!

The pass way along the infinity, cybercity and DLF ship building; well, is a hell in heaven for commuters. But Bharath, Cherry and I, didn’t quite agree to that. At least, for the sake of going to the Food Court, adjoined to the Sapient Office. DAP, a menace which comes in a while and wreck havoc in our job lives seemed a futile exercise as compared to the craving for a walk, talk and dine fervor. And we loved the mad rush and hush of the roadway.

“Chale”….Cherry would never be late in buzzing me and Bharath. I would ping out, “Ruk jao…m in Edit Details”, just to ignore his vivacious call. Bharath just nods the head and pings in, “Mahanta, band karo roj ka drama”.

That was not a drama, of course. It became a routine, as much as breathing in and out. Come 9 O’clock and we would be ready for our long haul. It would be eventful. Questions round would come first. “Kitne Accounts kar liye bhai”, this question became so ubiquitous that we even started answering it first before asking, “let me say first, 50 and done”, I once said. This is actually the collection of short stories by Tara Deshpande, which meant 50 were too much. Now I guess, my ex-colleagues would observe, “50 kya he bhai…50 to minutes ka khel he”, well, times have started speeding up, faster than the daisy’s (arguably the fastest processor) fingers in moving dates of sales to the end of month to get rid of those bizarre rate of return.

Bharath could easily cling to his mobile and rang out to (for obvious reasons, I would refrain from taking the name), some special one. His talking times would definitely make a marathon race look shorter and gasping for attention. Cherry would say, “when would you kindly resign from your grasp-drag-press-hold device?, I would only laugh away in careless admonition. We both knew how difficult it is to be away from those pristine whispers, resembling music to ears.

I would always start looking at the glaring buildings under the evening sky, with ever increasing illusion. “See cherry, PriceWaterhouse Coopers”, “Sapient”, “and Microsoft”, all look like sparkling stars in a night sky”; Cherry, would not really mind that. “Bhai, look ahead, cab’s coming. When will you come out of your dreams, subbu?” By then we would have turned around to the pass way adjacent to Tower B and A of Infinity. We would step ahead very slowly so that we can enjoy the time and the crowd. “Our office, lacks the presence of those deer’s and butterflies”, Cherry would get disappointed. The heading for home girls and their all embracing buddies; some would just sit and relax; many would hustle around; I remember one disparaging couple. The girl, for a change was trying to convince the boy from going away from her. Honking of cabs, however often played spoil sports to those eye engulfing sights and reminded us of the task of crossing the danger zone.

“Hold, I m going to cross the road”, Bharath would instruct the other end. Crossing the road safely and reaching the other end was an uphill task. I always felt the need for a footbridge over the road. “I will tell DLF, don’t worry Subbu; now be happy as we are about to reach our destination’, Cherry would always crack a joke or two.

“Decide”, Me

“Let’s explore”, Bharath. His penchant for a new stuff everyday would take more time than the time to eat.

“Drums of Heaven’, Cherry announced.

“Whats that”, I enquired of in severe excitement.

“Bhai, how long will you cling on to Indian Chicken, let’s have Chinese chicken today”, Bharath would try to persuade me for the cuisine which I loathed extremely.

I wondered why we three did so less accounts on a daily basis during DAP. We never cared to even think how much time we wasted (well, I would love to say “Invested” actually, m too emotional) in having dinner in office.

“It’s awesome”, I liked drums of heaven. “Thanks to both of you for introducing something exciting to my closed food circle”, I would be grateful to both.

After that day, whenever we visited the food court, even after a rigorous search for a new stuff we would end up having drums most often.

That was a time when we three were together in the same process. Our journey was however cut short by happenings that were inevitable. For obvious reasons, Cherry suddenly decided to turn vegetarian, like Michael Jackson becoming a Muslim. It was alarming news to me. Because Cherry loved Chicken as much as I loved Tea.

After that, I and Shyam decided bade goodbye to IPMG. Shyam headed for Hyderabad and I though shifting within, no longer keep the drums beating and heating.

Drums of heaven is a time, rests in hearts. It was much warm than the dish till date.

Refugee

the fear of unspoken words keep hanging outside the corridor;
the path along that corridor seems never ending.
he's neither lost nor stranded,
road is distanced;
bypasses a distant call.
pain emerges on a pleasure plate;
blames ride the wave of glory.
pretends a loathing proposition;
the smiling eyes revealed,
like an illuminating lamp.
starry is here to stay, dusk fades.
writes a new chapter;
and has been dubbed as " new wine in old bottle".
must have been in love with thyself,
immitating Pygmalion.
sculptures a smokey image;
drizzle drops destroys though.
windy nights shakes up emotions !
to run a albatross run.
above..higher..crossing the horizon and
kissing altitude..hugging heights..
he's exuberating a kiddish demenour
playing hide and seek with clouds;
the blue blossoms his imagination,
he builds a dream.
looks for a mightier pioneering point;
Goliath keeps coming though,
he's asking David's arsenal.
David refuses...
Silence marvels in, starts a conversation,
" Silence speaks louder than words
Silence keep thou soul serene
Silence breaks the peace.."
he's looking for a refuge...
